Social media has become a huge part of society now and it is no longer a shock that many couples are using this outlet for their wedding planning strategy.  But as with most things social media can either be a huge help in the process or it could hinder it.  Here are a few tips to guide you with the option of using social media for your wedding:
You don’t necessarily find many brides sending out their wedding invitations via Facebook but it has become a more popular way to keep guests updated before the wedding.  With a Facebook page or other wedding site you can keep your registry, travel and lodging, and wedding party information all in one place.  Guests can also use this site to help them in their plans for your big day.  Social media can also be used as an outlet to contact potential vendors.  Most vendors keep their Facebook and Twitter accounts more up to date then their blogs and websites so this is a great way to see some of the current projects they are working on.  You also have the opportunity to read reviews from other couples who have used particular vendors in the past before you make the final decision to hire them. Sometimes it is difficult to pinpoint exactly what you want for your wedding so another great place for inspiration is wedding blogs.  If you find something you like you can use those ideas to incorporate into your own wedding.  The great thing about using social media for your wedding endeavors is it doesn’t have to end with the day.  Social media is a fantastic way for you and your guests to share all the memories afterwards.  You can ask your photographer and guests to tag you in the pictures they took and you can create a Facebook album that can easily be shared with everyone.  In addition certain services such as Live Vows or can be used to live stream your wedding to guests who were unable to attend.  Overall, using social media as a tool to help you with your wedding can be really helpful, but it is important not to lose sight of the actual moment.  Your wedding day will go by in a flash so remember to stay in the moment and enjoy every second!
