Orlando Wedding | Ballroom at Church Street | Abigail and Owen Engaged!

We are counting down the days til Abigail and Owens Ballroom at Church Street Wedding! Until then read on to find out about their love story!

  • Q. How did the two of you meet?
  • A. We met for the first time in our high school band when Abby was a sophomore and Owen was a freshman. Abby played the French horn and Owen was a percussionist. For one of our fundraisers we went in groups of four to sell apples door to door. Abby was in a group of three and Owen did not have a group so he signed up in the first open spot that he saw, which happened to be in Abby’s group. Abby and the two other girls in the group did not know Owen and after she introduced herself to him he ended up switching into a different group for the fundraiser! Despite this awkward introduction Abby and Owen began spending time together at school and before football games. The following summer we began dating and now five years later we are engaged!
  • Q. What did you do on your first date?
    A. Our first date wasn’t a traditional date because we were only sixteen. We met at Owen’s house and climbed on to the roof of his neighborhood Clubhouse! We talked on the roof until late into the night.
  • Q. What one thing does he/she do that drives you crazy?
    A. Owen: Something that drives me crazy about Abby is when she pulls the silent treatment on me.Abby: Something that drives me crazy about Owen is how unnecessarily loud he sneezes.
  • Q. What is the best quality about your partner
    A. Owen: Abby has so many amazing qualities but I would have to say that her best is her never ending concern for others.Abby: My favorite quality about Owen is how hardworking he is. He started working at his mom’s business when he was fourteen and is currently working full time at a design firm and going to school. His ability to excel in these areas and still have a social life amazes me.
  • Q. Who wears the pants in your relationship?
    A. To be honest, we both understand that there are qualities that one is better at then the other so when facing dilemmas we rely on whoever has the strengths to help overcome the given situation. As far as decision making we always try to compromise. As hard as it is we strive to seek each other’s wants and needs, working hard to make this relationship one that is selfless and never self-seeking.
  • Q. Describe the moment that you knew he/she was The One!
    A. Owen: I knew Abby was the one when she dedicated her life to Jesus Christ.Abby: I knew Owen was the one when I moved to Gainesville to attend the University of Florida. I always wanted to go to UF and when I was accepted I knew that Owen and I were either going to break up because having a long distance relationship was too hard or we were going to continue dating and get married. The first semester of being away was very hard and I missed Owen every day. This solidified to me that he was the man I wanted to spend the rest of my life with.
  • Q. Tell us about the proposal!!
    A. It was Sunday August 31, 2014 and the day before the birthday of Abby’s mom, Colby, so she did not think anything was strange when her family and Owen, planned to go to a celebratory dinner. After dinner everyone decided to go back to the house of Abby’s parents for a family game night. While Abby and Owen were walking to the car Abby’s dad, Michael, pulled us aside and asked if we could get the present he had hidden for her mom in the backyard shed. Upon arriving to the house Abby’s sister, Rachael, distracted her while Owen secretly went to the backyard to set up lanterns and candles. Abby then realized that she had to go to the shed to get the present and when she walked out back she saw the romantic setup in the backyard but still did not think anything was strange. When she walked further into the yard Owen popped out from behind the shed causing Abby to scream in what was a moment of surprise. Owen then led her to a bench in the yard where he got down on one knee and proposed! Abby joyfully accepted his proposal and finally realized that there was no present in the shed. When we returned to the house Abby’s parents had prepared an engagement party for us with Owen’s family and some close friends. It was an incredible night that we will never forget!
  • Q. How does your wedding reflect your personal style?
    A. As high school sweethearts this wedding is a huge celebration for us and our families. The day will reflect our lifelong commitment to prefer and serve each other.
  • Q. Tell us 2 or 3 words that sum up your wedding.
    A. Elegant and romantic
  • Q. What are your plans for your honeymoon?
    A. For our honeymoon we decided to go on a cruise to the Western Caribbean. Owen has never been on a cruise before so he is looking forward to continuously being able to eat and Abby, who has been on several cruises with her family, is looking forward to playing Bingo!
