Nicole and Lisa will be celebrating their Paradise Cove wedding this February! If you know anything about Nicole Squared Events, you will know we are a sucker for a sweet love story! I still have goosebumps over the proposal story!! Here’s how Nicole and Lisa’s love story began!
-
Q. How did the two of you meet?A. We met during a video game tournament, called MLG, in 2008. We were both girl gamers on Xbox at the time, and we went to the event with a great group of women from all over the country to participate in a competition in Orlando, FL. When they met, Lisa was living in Florida and Nicole was living in Michigan. We continued to keep in touch over the next couple of years, and after visiting each other a dozen times, started dating long distance. Eventually, Nicole relocated to Florida and the rest is history!

Q. What did you do on your first date?A. One of our first dates and greatest memories was taking a trip together to St. Augustine, where we got ice cream in homemade waffle cones, visited the wine shop and tried local wines, and sat by the ocean and talked. It still is one of our favorite places to visit because of the great memories we share every time we go there.

Q. What is the best quality about your partnerA. Nicole is an old soul stuck in a young woman’s body. She enjoys the finer things in life, like a good Moscato and the sounds of The Rat Pack. That doesn’t get in the way of her witty sense of humor though! She’s the planner and the joker in the relationship.
Lisa’s favorite things about Nicole:
•Her Italian cooking.
•Her creativity and craftiness.
•She is smart, loving, kind, and gentle.
•She is witty and funny and has the best impersonations.Just the opposite, Lisa is a big kid stuck in a young lady’s body. She’s always laughing, and has a great smile and zest for life. She is a bit more reserved at times, but really loves deep and cares for those people very close to her. Don’t let her tattoos fool you, because those who know her best, know she’s a great big gummy bear inside. She’s sweet, kind and loving and has a passion for gaming, traveling and cooking.
Nicole’s favorite things about Lisa:
•Her eyes
•She is completely selfless and would give the shirt off of her back for anyone. Really, just about anyone… 😉
•Her laugh
•Her baking! -
Q. Who wears the pants in your relationship?A. The old saying goes, “they put their pants on one leg at a time” just like everyone else. Lisa and Nicole feel that they balance each other out and work together to find the best solution to all of their tough decisions. However, if you ask us, when it comes to the question, “What’s for dinner?” Lisa would gladly say Nicole wears the pants, since Lisa can never really decide on what she wants on any given day. 🙂

Q. Tell us about the proposal!!A. Lisa and I have always been drawn to Winter Garden’s Downtown area. There are beautiful mosaic tile fountains, trees wrapped in white lights year round, and quaint little swings hanging from the arches of the pavilion.
When I first moved to Florida, we lived close by and went there often to stroll along the downtown area and just be with one another without any cares in the world. After moving across town, we hardly ever made the 45 minute drive back, but it crossed my mind quite often since so many great memories were shared on those swings.
That night, we decided to take a ride down to Winter Garden so we could stop by World Market and peruse the wine isles. I found a funny bottle of wine shaped like a cat, (which was enough to brag about on its own) and we had a nice dinner at Red Robin. We had great conversation, and I even looked at her and said, “I’d marry you if I could.”
After dinner and shopping, Lisa started driving towards downtown Winter Garden. Naturally, I got excited and I was already having the best evening ever with my girl, and I loved our “little spot” that we hadn’t been to in ages.
We sat on the swings, talked about the “good old times” and remembered how much things have changed since we met and first came there almost 4 years ago. Lisa asked me if I wanted to take a walk with her down where all of the trees were lit up and I agreed.
We started walking and I stopped to take a little video of us and even ended the video with, “We’re going to remember this night forever!” completely oblivious as to what was about to happen next. Lisa started to get teary eyed, and I looked at her thinking something was wrong… then she got down on one knee and told me how much she loved me and all sorts of sappy saps that I’ll spare our readers. But it was beautiful, and sweet, and so incredibly perfect. While she was down on one knee, a car drove by and a lady yelled out her window, “CONGRATULATIONS!!” and before I even say, “Yes!” to Lisa, I yelled back at the lady, “THANK YOU!!!”
I was ecstatic! I hugged her and couldn’t believe it! The next comment I made was about how beautiful the ring was and how I totally wore the wrong color polish on my nails! ;)(a girl needs a warning to pick the perfect polish, amiright?!)
The night couldn’t have been more perfect. After we got home, Lisa showed me the 15 minute video she made of us. It made me laugh and cry and I realized how truly perfect we are for one another. We have had so many really happy times together. We are best friends who build forts, tip canoes, bake cakes, and fight off bears on our porch. We have shared 4 years of Super Craft Sunday’s and trips to Michael’s for our impulsive craft tendencies. We have discovered how much we love wine and dog parks. We have been thick and thin and everywhere in between.
She has taught me to be more patient and understanding and what it feels like to be loved unconditionally.
I have taught her to love Frank Sinatra, budget our finances, and that singing show tunes in the living room is completely normal… 😉
We are opposites who appreciate each other and our quirks and flaws and I can’t wait to marry her! -
Q. How does your wedding reflect your personal style?A. Being from Michigan, Nicole loves the outdoors and wanted something with fresh air and beautiful scenery. Being a California girl, Lisa loves elegance, and wanted décor that would represent her vision. We have incorporated deep eggplant purple, with touches of silver in our decorations. We are going to be incorporating ceiling draping, rhinestones, and crystals wherever possible so we can fuse both styles together at our beautiful outdoor venue, Paradise Cove.

Q. Tell us 2 or 3 words that sum up your wedding.A. Fun, Elegant, Vibrant
Q. What are your plans for your honeymoon?
A. We plan on taking a week and traveling to Italy to see the architecture, drink the wine, and wander the streets hand in hand. Nicole, being Italian, has always dreamed of visiting Rome and Venice. Lisa is equally excited for our Italian getaway, since our last name after marriage is going to be Vecchioni, Nicole’s mothers maiden name. We decided to take a last name that meant something special to each of us, but was unique and didn’t involve either of us choosing which last name – hers or mine – we would take.
We are looking forward to working with a great team of vendors including Jessica Leigh Photography, (who delivered these awesome engagement photos), Subsonic Event DJ’s, Anna Cakes, Lexoria Films, Classic Event Decorating, and Bjoely Event Services.
